I was born and raised through High School in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area, the oldest of six children in my family. As soon as I was out of school I moved west to Oregon, first for college and then remaining there because I loved the ocean and the maritime atmosphere of the area. My children were born and attended their first years of school there.
I discovered Sandpoint in 1976, when my family and I came here to visit friends who had recently bought property in the Gold Creek area, and totally fell in love with the place as we were crossing the Long Bridge. (Sound familiar?) In those days there was not a lot of opportunity to make a life here; it took me a few years to figure that one out.
In the mid-eighties I got my ducks in a row and moved here; we've been here ever since. The kids have grown up and moved on to finish their educations elsewhere; they have since both moved back and made their homes in the area, recognizing what a pristine jewel of nature and recreation and wonderful, giving community we have here.
I worked for a local manufacturer for almost twenty years, starting when they were a small, family operation and contributing to their growth into the international success they are today - fulfilling, challenging work, to be sure, but there was something missing. I realized that I wanted to share this wonderful place and all its opportunities with others - whether to live here and raise their families in the midst of nature, as I did, or to enjoy all the recreational options on a part-time basis.
I made the big decision to change careers and become a Realtor and never looked back! I have been a fan and admirer of Dan and Debbie's for years, and when the opportunity to work with them and their excellent team came along there was really not much to decide.
